serious question here from steel roaring my instagram what are the red balls for in my photo i have
red balls in my hand they're a little bit like these ones this one is a real movement it's a white ball basically juggling has been a huge part of my development as a human the concept of going back to a challenge that can't be finished every day a physical challenge was really really powerful for me so things like juggling handstands skills that you don't uh tire from in terms of causing injury to the body uh really really valuable for building consistency and belief in yourself and belief in the ability to change right so when you start to throw this thing and you start to juggle and you think i can't do this and then five minutes later you're so far ahead of where you were before if you've got a coach if you you know you've got the right kind of idea and you're getting some some tips in the right direction then five minutes later you'll be juggling a lot better than you than you were when you first started and you had that limiting belief and then you know i took it all the way up to five ball juggling and doing all sorts of tricks and it's very very powerful for improving the visual field and there's research about it you know improving the connections between left and right brain and um you know increasing white matter and gray matter in the brain so the research is is strong that it does some really good things for the brain i think there are a lot of activities that are going to have that effect you know playing the piano and things like that as well where you got both you know both hands going at the same time and complexity complex tasks i think are really important for us to maintain complex brains but yeah that's why they're in the picture and i really love to see people just being clear that whatever you can't do at the moment it's just because you haven't practiced it a lot and if you were to commit to it and if you were to do a lot of it then you could be really good at it and if you don't do a lot of it and if you don't commit to practicing
it's probably going to stay exactly the way it is but if we can buy into this concept of humans as being this being of mastery and this being that can learn and adapt and change yeah that's why they're in the picture and that's why they've been a huge part of how i develop coaches and athletes i haven't been talking about a lot lately i've been thinking about other things and getting this atg for coaches off the ground and it's been super exciting and it's going really really well thanks for asking we're like three and a half months into that journey but for sure skill work is coming back if you watch ben patrick knees over toes guy you'll see that he has crazy skills with the basketballs it's actually very very similar to fireball juggling some of the drills that he can do the way he's moving you know his feet his hands his body very complex i think we all should have those kinds of things in our training programs and and to be making people young again and making people more more adaptable in terms of their skills and abilities but also for ourselves whether you're a coach or you know whatever you're doing it doesn't have to be part of your fitness regime but just the concept of learning new skills and doing what's uncomfortable even doing things that people you know are you you're trying to be clown things like that like it's good to be able to receive those like criticisms those jokes that aren't really jokes from people who feel threatened by other people who learn um sometimes you know they're actually really funny or whatever but uh it's good to go through that discomfort of wondering about other people judging you about learning a handstand or taking up you know a new movement so yeah that's that's the juggling balls
