Dearest Vegetarian,I think it’s very noble that you have decided to consciously make the decision to not eat animals because of the loss of life, suffering and because you believe it to be better for the environment.
I have thought about and researched a lot of these ideas. I have lived as a vegetarian and around many vegans and vegetarians including family members.
The following is a plea for you to consider some other perspectives from a fellow conscious eater.
I have come to believe that plants are also sacred and must live and die with dignity. We can’t and shouldn’t try to limit death since it’s a part of life but we should try to love and cherish everything especially the things that we receive inside our bodies.
I believe that mass grain and soy production are infinitely more destructive than traditional farming. Feed lots depend on fossil fuel driven farming. When that comes to an end and permaculture / traditional style holistic food production returns the world will become a better place. For those who believe that everyone eating meat would require a population collapse consider Farmers of Forty Centuries: Organic Farming in China, Korea, and Japan.
On this journey I have embraced the Paleo diet along with many traditional and raw foods. I search for the best food sources available and have become part of a very modest farming project. My dream is to live on a community farm and help people embrace health and balanced living.
The reason I would encourage people to re-evaluate vegan/ vegetarian life is because I believe that in the long-term it decreases our vitality (this may take generations or months to surface) and thus our ability to heal the world and reproduce with healthy off-spring. There is a reason that no indigenous culture on earth is vegan. Long-term succession is simply not possible.
For my love of children and the world I beg you to consider the nutrition that a human body needs to thrive and to seek that nutrition. Many of the worlds most thoughtful minds are committing a mistake which could see their great opportunity to love the world and fulfil life’s purpose be lost. Embracing sustainable healthy nutritional habits is a great part of solving the worlds social, financial, ecological and spiritual crisis.
