Clean Health 3 Day Trainer Internship – Day 1

I’m at Clean Health for a 3 Day Trainer Internship with Daine McDonald and Rawdon Dubois. Here is my  – Day 1 review and key points.

1. The new frontier of Personal Training and elite athlete preparation is in justifying your supplementation plan off blood test results.
2. You need to look at underlying factors before you talk to the clients about the results they can expect. If the immune system is down and the adrenal scores look like they’ve been hit by a bus it’s not time to talk calorie restriction and contest prep. On the other had if the blood test is clear and the triceps are lean / DHEA is high it’s a green light and you can expect great results!
3. Activated charcoal can be used as a cleanse along with magnesium citrate to bowel tolerance (and just beyond).
4. Know your immune markers. I’ve learned them before, it’s time to learn them again. For example Eosinophils can tell us about adrenal function and food allergies.
5. Deltoid circuits suck! We did 1 1/4 arnold press x7, lateral raises with a 3 second isometric half-way up x7 and 3×7 reverse cable crossovers x4 circuits. I’ve been military pressing every day on the Dan John easy strength program and I can tell you that this was a completely different stimulus!
6. Body builder shit hurts, then you feel fine. Powerlifter shit doesn’t hurt that much during the set, but it drains you much more than lactate driven BB stuff. (My observation from todays pump sessions).
7. Zinc should be 25% higher than copper on HTMA.
8. Low free T3 think selenium, low free T4 think iodine.
9. If you’ve been trying to lose fat on a low carb or calorie approach and you’ve stalled take a rest eg. eat up / carb up for while, reset the system then go again from your new baseline.
10. Clean health is an awesome gym! The staff is all in great shape and the clients are working hard. It’s not a steroid fuelled dungeon nor is it a day spa for yuppies. It’s one of the top gyms in Australia, you’ll get what you pay for.
On other news my seminar is almost sold out. If you still want to go get in soon.
