6 keys to health and longevity!

If you want to live a longer healthier life here are the 6 health systems you need to take care of.
After the overwhelming response I had to 9 Steps for overcoming depression and chronic fatigue I’m following it up with an explanation of the systems we need to evaluate in order to create such vital bursting health that there is no room for disease.
If you’ve looked around lately or done a little analysis of trends in the economy you’ll have noticed that people are losing function. Whether its mental or physical, people are deteriorating at an alarming rate. The greatest demonstration of this is that the fastest growing section of the medical industry is fertility treatment. This is literally nature calling the cops on our suicidal party. Infertility is the end of the road. The millions of years of evolutionary success that passed on an ever more complex and adapted set of genes, since the first forms of life on earth until now is ending for more and more people.
This phenomenon is very sad and should be the screaming wake-up call that humanity needs to kick its own butt back into line.
For those who’ve already had kids don’t think you’re excused because the decline in genetic strength is a generational thing. If your grand parents lived well then you might be getting by on their genetic wealth but how much of that you squandered and how much of it you passed on can be seen in the vitality of your kids. Check out “Pottenger’s Cats” to better understand this phenomenon.
If you’re getting the picture on this stuff you might still be wondering what this has to do with disease. Well all disease is caused by …. .. mal-function. If the bodies systems aren’t working then some part of your body is going to breakdown into symptoms and disease.
Being overweight is wearing around extra kilos that say – I’m carbohydrate overloaded / I have insulin resistance / I have hormone dysregulation or all the above. It doesn’t make us bad people, it’s just a physical manifestation of physiology and lifestyle that have created mal-function.
To get control of our physiology here are 6 key systems we need to evaluate:
1. Nutrition and digestion – Being vitamin and mineral deficient due to weak digestion or poor quality food increases your risk of dis-ease. Low stomach acid is one of the most common causes of nutrient deficiency in the presence of a good diet. Many people report sleeping better when they use supplemental HCL digestive aids using the appropriate protocol. (Test through HTMA and blood tests)
2. Detoxification – In an increasingly toxic environment it’s no longer survival of the fittest. Life has become survival of the best detoxifiers. Good nutrient balance, clean water, stress management, healthy digestion and hormonal balance are all important factors for detoxification. (Test through Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis and Blood tests, urine tests)
3. Hormonal balance – Adrenal function as well as hypothalamic and pituitary function are all under-attack by the 21st century way of living. Insulin function deserves a special mention since the sugar (and high fructose corn syrup) over-dose is one of the biggest factors in the modern health dilemma. When our hormones are out of balance or low then cellular function will be effected throughout the body. (Test through saliva, blood and hair tissue mineral analysis or BioSignature).
4. Inflammation – The high stress environment of the 21st century along with poor quality nutrition has created a pro-inflamatory environment. If we want to live in balance then we need to calm inflammation. By supporting glutathione production and consuming foods containing lots of antioxidants as well as getting our Omega 3 to Omega 6 ratios in check we can decrease oxidative stress and inflammation. (Test through blood tests, urine tests)
5. Immune function – The human body has an elaborate system that uses considerable amounts of energy to protect us from pathogens in your environment. If immune function is compromised then cortisol function and subsequently other hormones and mineral balance will also be effected. Food intolerances, parasites and leaky gut are common problems that cause a chronic activation and eventual collapse of our immune system. (Test saliva, blood)
6. Nervous system – Over activation of our sympathetic nervous systems”fight or flight” response due to poor stress management or not making time to relax can leave us no time to digest and rebuild in parasympathetic mode. Morning heart rate, heart rate variability, grip strength and lying to standing blood pressure can all give an indication on the status of the nervous system.
Conclusion: The challenge before us is bigger than many of us recognise. The health consequences of the changes and challenges that life in the 21st century has brought us are massive. Whether your goal is performance, health or longevity looking into your level of function in the 6 key systems is a great place to start.
If you’re a bit overwhelmed by all this then simply checking your Vit-D levels, red blood cell magnesium status and red blood cell zinc status on a blood test is a great way to get the ball rolling. Remember that most people aren’t healthy these days so comparing yourself to the lab-norms is a bit like going to the nursing home for an arm-wrestling contest (I won’t say bladder holding because that would be politically incorrect).
